Tradestaff are on the hunt for a Light Vehicle Mechanic / Vehicle Inspector for a client based in Northland.
You will be responsible for inspecting vehicles, diagnosing mechanical issues, performing repairs, and ensuring all vehicles are safe, and roadworthy. The ideal candidate MUST have experience in auto repairs, a solid understanding of vehicle systems, and a strong ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Vehicle Inspections: Perform comprehensive vehicle inspections to assess the condition of various systems, including engines, brakes, tires, suspension, electrical systems, and emissions.
Diagnostics: Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical, electrical, and performance issues in vehicles.
Repairs and Maintenance: Conduct repairs and routine maintenance services, including oil changes, brake repairs, tire replacements, engine diagnostics, and more.
Safety Compliance: Ensure that all vehicles meet local, state, and federal safety and emission standards. Address any safety-related concerns immediately.
Customer Communication: Provide customers with clear explanations of the issues found, recommended repairs, and cost estimates. Address customer concerns and offer professional advice.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance tasks performed. Update vehicle logs and maintenance schedules.
Up-to-Date Knowledge: Stay informed about the latest vehicle technologies, repair techniques, and industry standards.
Quality Control: Ensure all work is performed to the highest standard.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
Proven experience as a mechanic with a solid understanding of vehicle systems (engines, brakes, transmission, etc.)
Qualified - NZ Certificate in Automotive Engineering
Qualified Vehicle Inspector ( WOF complied )
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to explain technical issues clearly to customers.
Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Ability to work with various tools and diagnostic equipment.
