Locksmith Technician

We’re on the lookout for a motivated individual to retrain as a Locksmith Technician. This is not an entry-level role — our client is seeking someone with prior hands-on trade or technical skills who is ready to learn locksmithing from the ground up. You’ll start in the Lower Hutt workshop, working alongside senior locksmiths, and progress toward a formal NZQA Level 4 Locksmith Apprenticeship.
What you’ll be doing:

• Assisting senior locksmiths in the workshop
• Working with traditional mechanical locks
• Learning access control systems and electronic security
• Using hand and power tools on a daily basis
• Supporting with key programming and other locksmithing tasks

You’ll need:

• Previous hands-on trade experience or demonstrable technical skills
• Strong mechanical or electrical aptitude with problem-solving ability
• Confidence using hand and power tools
• Willingness to learn locksmithing from the ground up
