Traffic Management Planner – Permanent Role (Masterton)

Ready to take the next step in your traffic management career? We’re on the lookout for an experienced Traffic Management Planner to join a growing, close-knit team based in Masterton, Wairarapa.

This is a straight-to-permanent opportunity with an immediate start for the right person.

The Role
This is a fully office-based, computer-focused planning role—no on-site work required. You’ll be responsible for designing and submitting Traffic Management Plans (TMPs), working within the latest NZGTTM (risk-based) framework.
You’ll be joining a small, supportive team (currently 3, expanding to 4), in a newly created position.

What’s on Offer

• Salary: $75,000 – $100,000 (depending on experience)
• Monday to Friday | 8:00am – 4:30pm (40 hours paid)
• Some flexibility with hours
• Immediate start available

What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who is:

• Currently working as a Traffic Management Planner
• Experienced with NZTA highway projects
• Confident using RapidPlan (essential) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Knowledgeable in the transition from COPTTM to NZGTTM (risk-based TMPs)

Key Experience Required

• Proven experience submitting and gaining approval for TMPs through NZTA under the new risk-based system
• Strong background in Detailed Risk Assessments
• High success rate with first-time approvals
• Ability to provide evidence of previously approved TMPs (NZTA or council)

Nice to Have

• Previous on-the-ground experience as an STMS
• Willingness to relocate to the Wairarapa region

Location
