We’re on the lookout for an experienced STMS to join a busy team in Hamilton. If you’re confident managing traffic sites, leading crews, and ensuring full compliance, this is a great opportunity to step into ongoing work with solid hours.
Location: Hamilton, Waikato
Start date: Immediate
Pay rate: $34–$36 per hour (depending on experience) – paid weekly

Pay rate: $34–$36 per hour (depending on experience) – paid weekly
What you’ll be doing:
- Develop and implement Traffic Management Plans (TMPs)
- Assess site risks and ensure compliance with NZTA / Waka Kotahi requirements
- Coordinate with clients, councils, and contractors
- Supervise and assist with traffic management site setup (cones, signs, barriers, detours)
- Ensure correct placement and layout in line with approved TMPs
- Lead and supervise Traffic Controllers and on-site crews
- Conduct toolbox talks and ensure all safety procedures are followed
- Monitor site conditions and adjust traffic management as needed
- Respond to incidents, near misses, and public concerns
- Complete site documentation, audits, and reporting
- Liaise with road users, clients, and emergency services when required
- TTM Cat A/B STMS qualification (minimum)
- TTM Cat C STMS highly advantageous
- Full Class 1 driver licence (minimum)
- Class 2 licence preferred
- Strong understanding of traffic management compliance and safety standards
- Proven leadership and communication skills
