Hydrovac Operator
Tradestaff Hawke’s Bay is looking for an experienced Hydrovac Operator to join a busy waters and civil team based in Hastings.
This role is ideal for a capable Class 4 driver who takes pride in their equipment and enjoys a mix of operating machinery, coordinating jobs, and working with clients on-site.

What you’ll be doing
- Operating a Hydrovac truck to carry out hydro-excavation and potholing around underground services
- Scheduling and organising daily jobs and coordinating site requirements
- Liaising with customers, clients, and site teams to ensure work runs smoothly
- Operating jet and vacuum truck equipment safely and efficiently
- Carrying out daily vehicle and equipment checks to ensure compliance (COF, registration, and safety standards)
- Maintaining the Hydrovac truck, hoses, and equipment in clean and presentable condition
- Supporting general site duties and assisting the wider team when required
- Minimum Class 4 driver licence with at least 2 years of truck driving experience
- Experience operating jet or vacuum trucks is highly advantageous
- Strong mechanical aptitude and pride in maintaining equipment and machinery
- Proven focus on site safety and hazard management
- Ability to plan tasks and manage daily workloads
- Good communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with clients and team members
- First Aid certificate is desirable
- $35 per hour + weekly pay
