Machine Operator with GPS Final Trim Experience – Lower Hutt 

We are seeking an experienced Machine Operator with GPS Final Trim experience for an ongoing, Monday to Friday role on one of Lower Hutt’s largest civil infrastructure projects. This is an immediate start with excellent hourly rates available for the right candidate.
About the Role As a Machine Operator with GPS Final Trim experience, you will be responsible for high-accuracy earthworks and finishing operations on a major civil infrastructure site, while maintaining a Health & Safety–first approach at all times.
Key responsibilities include:

• Operating GPS-controlled plant (excavators, graders, dozers, etc.) for final trim, formation, and subgrade preparation
• Using GPS machine control systems to work to tight tolerances, levels, and falls
• Reading and interpreting digital models, plans, and civil drawings
• Carrying out trimming, shaping, battering, boxing, and finishing works
• Coordinating with surveyors, engineers, and site supervisors to ensure accuracy and quality
• Conducting daily pre-start checks, basic maintenance, and GPS calibration
• Maintaining clean and well-organised work areas
• Assisting with general labouring and ground works when not operating machinery
• Strictly following site Health & Safety procedures, environmental controls, and toolbox talks

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience as a machine operator with GPS final trim experience
• Background working on large-scale civil or infrastructure projects
• Strong understanding of civil construction standards, levels, and specifications
• A clear Health & Safety–first mindset
• Willingness to get out of the machine and assist with labouring as required
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively in a team
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
