Engineering & Workshop Trade Assistants
Tradestaff Waikato

Tradestaff has a client looking for Engineering and Workshop Trade Assistants to join their team.

Our client is a well respected New Zealand engineering company specialising in stainless and carbon steel fabrication, as well as mechanical installation for the dairy, water treatment, and manufacturing sectors.
This is a hands on role where you will be working alongside experienced engineers. The work is a mix of workshop based fabrication support and site work.

If you are practical, reliable, and keen to build a career in engineering, this could be a great foot in the door.

What the role involves
• Assisting engineers in the workshop and on site
• General workshop duties and helping keep jobs moving
• Supporting fabrication and mechanical installation work
• Travelling to different job sites when required
• Pitching in where needed to help meet project deadlines

What our client is looking for
• A genuine interest in engineering or fabrication
• Willing to learn and be trained
• Reliable with a strong work ethic
• Full driver licence
• Own car to get to work each day
• Able to pass a pre employment drug test
• Comfortable with early starts, sometimes as early as 5am
• Able to do occasional stay away work when required

Some previous engineering or mechanical experience is helpful, but not essential. What matters most is attitude and reliability.
You must have at least 2 to 3 years of previous work history so we can complete reference checks.  Any work, does not have to be engineering.

Bonus skills (not essential)
• Forklift licence
• EWP licence
• Confined space or gas testing certification
Training may be arranged for the right person.

Pay
The starting rate is $25 per hour, with opportunities for pay increases as you prove yourself.

What’s on offer
• Weekly pay
• Immediate start available
• Potential for long term work
• Opportunity to work on a range of projects and sites
• Stay away accommodation and allowances provided
• Supportive team environment
