What you’ll be doing: You’ll be hands-on across a wide range of diesel vehicles and equipment. Key responsibilities include:
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
- Dismantling, repairing, and reassembling engines and components
- Replacing worn or defective parts
- Following service manuals and technical guides
- Performing scheduled servicing (oil changes, tune-ups, lubrication, etc.)
- Testing and adjusting parts for optimal performance
- Using diagnostic tools and computer systems
- Responding to breakdown callouts
- Inspecting vehicles and issuing (or advising on) roadworthiness
What we’re looking for:- 3+ years' experience working on diesel engines in New Zealand
- Trade qualification preferred (or equivalent experience in New Zealand)
- Proven ability to work with advanced diesel diagnostics, including OEM software, electronic control systems, and emissions control technologies common in New Zealand fleets
- Applicants must have current, hands-on experience with modern diagnostic tools and diesel technologies, and be confident working with systems found in NZ’s late-model commercial and heavy diesel vehicles
- Regular work on Kenworth trucks and similar heavy-duty vehicles — experience with Cummins and PACCAR engines a strong advantage
- Own tools and reliable transport
- Minimum NZ Class 2 licence required
- Strong commitment to health & safety
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug test
- Two recent work references
