About the Role We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Advisor to support a large construction project based in Taupo. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring safe work practices on-site, supporting supervisors and workers, and maintaining compliance with all relevant NZ Health & Safety legislation.
You will be responsible for driving a strong safety culture, conducting regular site inspections, and providing guidance to ensure every worker goes home safely each day.

You’ll play a critical role in ensuring safe work practices on-site, supporting supervisors and workers, and maintaining compliance with all relevant NZ Health & Safety legislation.
You will be responsible for driving a strong safety culture, conducting regular site inspections, and providing guidance to ensure every worker goes home safely each day.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily site walkovers, inspections, and audits
- Support toolbox meetings and deliver safety briefings
- Investigate incidents, hazards, and near misses; complete ICAM reports where required
- Maintain and update Health & Safety documentation and registers
- Ensure compliance with HSWA 2015 and company H&S systems
- Assist with inductions, training, and onboarding
- Work closely with site management to implement corrective actions
- Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement across the project
- Proven experience in a Health & Safety Advisor in New Zealand or similar role within construction or industrial works
- Strong working knowledge of New Zealand H&S legislation
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
- Ability to influence safe behaviours across diverse teams
- Computer literacy (MS Office, site safety reporting tools)
- Valid NZ driver’s licence
- Relevant safety certifications (e.g., Site Safe, HASANZ registration, NEBOSH, or Diploma-level H&S qualifications) are advantageous
