Fitter Welder
Our client is seeking an experienced Fitter Welder to join their team ASAP, working within ground services and engineering at Auckland Airport.
This is a hands-on role supporting the maintenance and reliability of critical mechanical assets in a unique and fast-paced airport environment.
If you’re mechanically strong, safety-focused, and experienced in MIG welding, this could be the opportunity for you.
Location: Māngere, Auckland Airport
Start date: Immediate start available
Pay rate: $33–$40 per hour (paid weekly)

About the role: You’ll be supporting airport ground services and engineering operations, helping keep essential mechanical systems running smoothly.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preventative and breakdown maintenance on machinery and equipment
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults on airport systems
- Fabricating, modifying, and installing components as required
- Carrying out fitting, turning, MIG welding, and machining tasks
- Supporting electrical maintenance of mechanical assets such as baggage carousels
- Ensuring all work is completed to safety and quality standards
- Working closely with operations and engineering teams
- Trade qualified Fitter/Turner (minimum NZQA Level 4 Engineering qualification)
- Proven MIG welding experience
- Strong mechanical knowledge
- Experience in an industrial or plant maintenance environment
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Safety-focused with high attention to detail
- Current Site Safe certification
- MOJ check required
- Ability to complete airport security checks and site induction (SIT)
