We’re looking for an experienced Drainlayer to join a busy civil team working on major infrastructure projects across Tauranga.

Start date: Immediate start available
Pay rate: $33–45 per hour (paid weekly)

About the role
You’ll be working on large-scale civil drainage projects, taking responsibility for complex installs and leading a small crew to deliver quality outcomes that meet council and project standards.

Key duties
  • Installation of stormwater and wastewater drainage systems on civil projects
  • Laying and jointing pipes including RCRRJ, PVC, and PE
  • Installing manholes, catchpits, sumps, and drainage structures
  • Trenching, bedding, backfilling, and reinstatement works
  • Setting out levels and grades using pipe lasers
  • Reading and interpreting drainage and civil plans
  • Bench and plaster manholes
  • Determining when to shield, bench, or batter excavations
  • Working safely around live services and within traffic management
  • Coordinating with supervisors, machine operators, and site crews
  • Ensuring all work meets TCC and project specifications
What we’re looking for
  • Ideally licensed and certified Drainlayer
  • Proven experience on large-scale civil projects
  • RCRRJ pipe experience (300mm–1500mm)
  • PVC pipe experience (150mm–375mm)
  • PE pipe knowledge and experience
  • Ability to set pipe lasers for grade and alignment
  • Knowledge of TCC IDC requirements
  • Ability to run a crew of up to three
  • RTW and Confined Space
  • Water experience (desirable)
  • Sheet piling experience (desirable)
  • Ability to operate and trench with a digger (desirable)
  • Class 2 licence (desirable)
