Civil Plant Operator

Tradestaff Waikato is looking for experienced Excavator and Machine Operators to join a civil drainage crew working under an experienced Foreman on infrastructure projects across the region.

About the Role You’ll be operating excavators and other civil plant on drainage and infrastructure projects. The work includes trenching, backfilling, bulk earthworks, and assisting with the installation of stormwater, wastewater, and watermain systems.
You’ll be working closely with the Foreman and ground crew to ensure jobs are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities

• Operate excavators and civil machinery safely and efficiently
• Trenching and backfilling for drainage services
• Assist with pipe laying and installation
• Work to levels and follow plans
• Maintain machinery and complete basic daily checks
• Support the crew with general site tasks when required

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven experience operating excavators (civil/drainage preferred)
• Experience in trenching and working around services
• Ability to follow direction from Foreman
• Understanding of civil site safety requirements
• WTR endorsements required
• Full Class 1 licence (Class 2 advantageous)
• GPS experience an advantage but not essential
