Screed Operator – Asphalt & Chip Seal | Immediate Start! Tradestaff Hawke’s Bay is on the lookout for an experienced Screed Operator to join our team for an immediate start with a well-established civil client.
If you have a solid background in asphalt paving and chip seal work, this is a great opportunity to get on site quickly and put your skills to use on key roading projects around the Bay.
About the Role: You’ll be operating the screed on paving equipment to ensure consistent levels, smooth finishes, and high-quality results on both asphalt and chip seal surfaces. You’ll be working alongside an experienced civil crew, contributing to a safe, productive, and professional worksite.
Your Responsibilities:

• Operating and adjusting the paver screed for correct depth, grade, and finish.
• Assisting with chip seal preparation, application, and rolling.
• Monitoring material temperature, texture, and flow.
• Maintaining equipment and reporting any issues promptly.
• Supporting the team to meet project deadlines safely and efficiently.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience in asphalt and chip seal work is essential.
• Proven ability to operate and maintain paving/screed machinery.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Physically fit, reliable, and safety-conscious.
• Class 2 or 4 licence required with WTR endorsement
• Site Safe or ConstructSafe card preferred.
• Available for immediate start!
