Maintenance Fitter

Do you have a strong background in mechanical fitting, particularly in manufacturing or heavy industry? We’re seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our dynamic team and support the assembly, installation, and ongoing maintenance of complex machinery in a fast-paced food packaging environment in Central South Auckland.

About the Role In this hands-on role, you'll be working with a variety of mechanical systems to keep our production lines running smoothly and efficiently. The work environment is high-paced and safety-focused, requiring both technical know-how and proactive problem-solving.

Shift Patterns This position involves rotating shift work to meet production demands. Shift patterns may include:

• 12-hour rotating shifts – 4 days on / 4 days off
• Rotating shifts (2 days / 2 nights) – 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM & 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM
• Monday to Saturday - minimum 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Assembly & Installation: Assemble machine parts and install new production equipment from technical drawings and specifications
• Maintenance & Repair: Conduct routine maintenance checks, identify faults, and carry out repairs to minimise downtime
• Troubleshooting: Respond quickly to breakdowns and mechanical issues, identifying root causes and applying long-term solutions
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety standards, ensuring machinery is compliant and safe for continued use

What You’ll Bring

• Proven mechanical fitting experience in a manufacturing or heavy industry environment
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, diagrams, and schematics
• Competency using a wide range of hand and power tools including welding machines, grinders, and drills
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
