We are seeking applications for Heavy Diesel Mechanics to work in a mining environment north of Dunedin. Large salaries on offer: 120 - 128 K for the right candidates.

The work will consist of repair and maintenance work on a variety of really big gear typically CAT, Sandvik & Komatsu dump trucks, loaders and excavators:

  • Repairs and maintenance of the sites facilities, tooling and other equipment;
  • Replacement of ground engaging tooling (G.E.T);
  • Basic repairs to electrical systems on the mining fleet and ancillary plant.
  • Planned replacements of machinery components and component repair/rebuilds.
  • Identify and report parts, materials and other resources required to complete allocated tasks


The shift pattern is 7 days on, 7 days off with alternating day and night shifts. 12 hour work days with an extra 3 hours unpaid travel time to and from Dunedin each day (bus transport supplied). These are long days for sustained periods so you MUST be prepared for this and, ideally, be used to working long hours in a similar shift pattern.

Key tasks and responsibilities are as follows:

Operational
  • Repairs, maintenance and daily inspection of the mining fleet and other plant and equipment in the field;
  • Daily servicing (refuelling and lubrication) of mining and ancillary plant when required;
  • Inspections of site facilities, tooling and other equipment as directed;
  • Replacements of machinery components;
  • Backlog and defect reporting and repairs;
  • Bucket, blade, tray & ground engaging tooling (G.E.T) inspections;
  • Record & report usage of all components, parts, G.E.T and other resources on work-order job cards;
  • Applying Contamination Control methodologies for all work undertaken;
  • Computer diagnostics and fault finding.
  • Maintaining high levels of housekeeping at all facilities, equipment and company vehicles.
Maintenance
  • Attending and repairing breakdowns of the mining fleet and ancillary plant;
  • General repairs and maintenance on all mining, ancillary and support plant;
  • Repair and rebuilding of machinery components;
