Class 2 Driver / Wastewater Service Technician – Rotorua - Hands-on | Physical | Team-Focused Role
Do you enjoy practical, physical work and being part of a down-to-earth, hardworking team? We’re looking for a Class 2 Driver to join a well-established wastewater and septic services team based in Rotorua.
This is a hands-on field role — not just driving. You’ll be working outdoors, getting stuck in with digging, hose work, and system cleaning while delivering an essential service to the community.
About the Role As a Wastewater Service Technician, your primary responsibility will be to pump out and clean septic tanks, sumps, and liquid waste systems using a specialised vacuum truck. You’ll work closely with experienced teammates and receive full training on systems and procedures.

About the Role As a Wastewater Service Technician, your primary responsibility will be to pump out and clean septic tanks, sumps, and liquid waste systems using a specialised vacuum truck. You’ll work closely with experienced teammates and receive full training on systems and procedures.
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
- Driving a Class 2 (or higher) vacuum truck to residential, commercial, and rural properties
- Locating septic tank access points (lids and inspection ports)
- Manual digging and physical labour to expose tank lids when required
- Connecting and managing suction hoses to safely remove sludge and effluent
- Operating onboard water-blasting equipment for thorough tank cleaning
- Carrying out basic maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
- Transporting waste to approved disposal facilities in line with environmental regulations
- Providing customers with clear, friendly advice on septic system care and maintenance
- Part of a two person team
- Full Class 2 Driver Licence (essential)
- Physically fit and comfortable with digging and manual labour
- Strong health & safety awareness and environmentally responsible mindset
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
- Good communication skills and a professional customer-facing approach
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
