Telehandler Operator
Location: Various construction sites across Hamilton and greater Waikato
Pay Rate: $32 to $38 per hour, depending on experience
Position Type: Temporary with potential to become permanent

We are seeking skilled and experienced Telehandler Operators to join our team through Tradestaff, working on behalf of our client in the construction sector. If you have a strong background in operating Merlo branded Telehandlers and a solid understanding of the construction industry, we want to hear from you.

Pay Rate: $32 to $38 per hour, depending on experience

Key Responsibilities:
- Operate Telehandlers: Safely and efficiently operate Telehandlers, with a preference for those experienced in the Merlo construction range.
- Support Construction Activities: Assist with various tasks on construction sites, demonstrating your expertise in the building industry.
- Health and Safety: Adhere to strict health and safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Experience: Significant experience working in the construction industry in New Zealand, with a focus on Telehandler operation.
- Physical Fitness: Must be fit, strong, and capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Licences and Endorsements:
- Full New Zealand Driver’s Licence (Class 1)
- F endorsement
- W endorsement
- NZQA Unit Standard 23637 – Operate a Telehandler (General use)
- NZQA Unit Standard 31245 – Plan for and lift, move, and place loads using mobile plant
- NZQA Unit Standard 30072 – Knowledge of slinging regular loads safely
- Drug and Alcohol Test: Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
- References: Two verifiable employment references.
- Transport: Reliable personal vehicle to get to work each day.
- Availability: Ready to start early mornings and commit to the job's demands.
- Class 2 Truck Licence
- Additional NZQA Unit Standards:
- 3789 – Sling varied regular loads and safely direct a crane during operations
- 20875 – Knowledge of slinging, lifting, moving, and placing loads with mobile plant
- Crane Operator Training
- EWP Training: If the Telehandler is used as a Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP), compliance with AS/NZS 1418 Part 10 2011/AS2550.10 is required, and the operator must have EWP training.
