About our client: Join a reputable family-owned business with a strong safety culture and a commitment to excellent service. We're seeking a dedicated Pilot Vehicle Driver to support our roadside maintenance vegetation crews.
Role Responsibilities:
- Pilot Vehicle Operation: Drive a pilot vehicle to guide tractors and support roadside maintenance tasks.
- Traffic Management: Assist in traffic management under the supervision of a STMS. Duties include placing/collecting cones, setup, and operating go/stop signs.
- Team Work: Collaborate effectively with various crews, including weed spraying, arborist cleanup, and rubbish collection along New Zealand state highways.
- Flexible Tasks: Be ready to assist with different tasks, such as concrete pouring on the construction crew or other duties as needed.
- Driver’s License: Full Class 1 driver's license is essential.
- Physical Fitness: Must be fit, strong, and able to be on your feet all day.
- Safety: Safe driving skills are crucial; you must also be able to pass a drug and alcohol test.
- Attitude: A positive, can-do attitude is a must. Teamwork is vital for success in this role.
- Experience: Pilot vehicle qualification, First Aid certificate, and chainsaw tickets are preferred. Previous experience in vegetation control or civil engineering is beneficial.
- Hours: Early morning starts and long days are expected. You may not return to the yard until late.
- Environment: Work will be conducted in all weather conditions and in rural settings.
- Duration: This is a temporary role running from about 4-6 months during the peak season.
