Our client is a leading poultry farm dedicated to providing high quality products while maintaining sustainable and ethical practices.  Our client has two sites near Hamilton. Both sites are rural. 
We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Engineer to join our client’s team and contribute to the smooth operation of their farms.  The successful candidate will work in and around livestock, therefore must be comfortable in such an environment.  The Maintenance Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the maintenance and functionality of various equipment/systems essential to the daily running of a Poultry Farm.  This is a challenging position where quick and critical thinking is necessary.  Problem solving and resourcefulness is a must as well as impeccable hygiene, bio-security compliance, and safety standards. 
 
Key responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure equipment efficiency and longevity.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance to minimise downtime and ensure continuous operation.
  • Utilise welding & machining skills to repair / fabricate necessary components.
  • Collaborate with teams to address maintenance needs promptly & effectively.
  • Operate / manage multiple IT systems efficiently.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, other contractors, and management.
 
Requirements:
  • Relevant Trade Qualifications and experience.
  • Tooling.
  • Proficient in welding and machining techniques.
  • Can read / interpret, technical plans / manuals.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance practices, especially around production/plant machinery within a food-hygiene environment.
  • Comfortable working around livestock.
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong team orientation with a willingness to assist others.
  • Proficiency in IT systems, with the ability to learn and manage multiple systems simultaneously.
  • Full NZ Driver’s Licence.
A person with an Electrical Background would be advantageous, but not essential.  Additionally, a person with a current Forklift Licence, Telehandler Licence and Class 2 Truck Licence would also be helpful, but again, not essential.
 
Hours of work:
  • This is a 24/7 business. Hours of work are negotiable, but you will have to be available to work the needs of the business.  The site operates a roster system.  Some nights / weekend work maybe required.  This also might include “on-call” work. 
  • You may have to work a various sites.
