GIB Stopper
Tradestaff is looking for an experienced GIB Stopper for work in Timaru. We’re after someone with strong finishing skills who can produce clean, accurate results, work confidently without supervision, and take pride in delivering a high standard of workmanship.
Location: Timaru, Canterbury
Start date: Immediate start
Pay rate: $30–$36 per hour + weekly pay

Tradestaff is looking for an experienced GIB Stopper for work in Timaru. We’re after someone with strong finishing skills who can produce clean, accurate results, work confidently without supervision, and take pride in delivering a high standard of workmanship.

What You'll Be Doing
- Complete GIB stopping and finishing to a high standard
- Cut, fit, and finish cove accurately
- Install external corner beads and straight flex
- Apply compounds using strong, consistent trowel techniques
- Prepare joints, corners, and surfaces for smooth finishing
- Operate boxes, banjos, bazookas, corner rollers, and corner flushers where experienced
- Complete final finishing and quality checks ready for the next stage of the project
- Proven GIB stopping experience with strong trowel and finishing skills
- Confident with cove, external corner beads, straight flex, and detailed finishing work
- Experience with specialist stopping equipment, or willingness to develop these skills
- Capable of working autonomously and maintaining high standards without supervision
- Reliable, hardworking, and backed by strong work references
- Full driver’s licence, reliable transport, and willingness to travel or stay away when required
- Good communication, professional presentation, and a responsible approach to health and safety
