Got 2+ years of construction experience, your own tools and the skills to confidently work alongside qualified builders?

Tradestaff Waikato is looking for experienced Hammerhands who are ready to put their construction skills to work across a variety of projects and Tradestaff clients.

You’ll work across different construction sites throughout the Waikato, with a particular focus on commercial and infrastructure projects. Assignments will vary, so we’re looking for capable people who can turn up with their tools, understand what needs doing and get stuck in.

What you could be doing:

• Assisting qualified carpenters and other tradespeople
• Measuring, marking, cutting and fitting building materials
• Using hand and power tools safely and confidently
• Assisting with framing, formwork and general carpentry tasks
• Installing building materials and components
• Helping with concrete and infrastructure works
• Completing site preparation and construction tasks
• Working from instructions, measurements and basic plans
• Keeping work areas safe, organised and productive
• Working across different commercial and infrastructure sites

What we’re looking for:

• At least 2 years of practical construction experience
• Previous experience working as a Hammerhand or in a similar construction role
• Your own tool apron or tool belt with a good range of basic hand tools
• Your own impact driver as a minimum
• Confident using common construction hand and power tools
• Able to accurately read and use a tape measure
• At least a Restricted NZ Driver Licence
• Your own reliable vehicle to get to different worksites
• Physically fit and comfortable with hands-on construction work
• Reliable, hardworking and able to work as part of a team
• Comfortable moving between different clients, projects and locations
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
• A strong commitment to Health & Safety

Even better if you have:

• A Full NZ Driver Licence
• Additional power tools and construction equipment
• Commercial construction experience
• Infrastructure or civil construction experience
• Experience with formwork, concrete or structural construction

• $27 to $29 per hour, depending on experience and assignment
