Engineering Trades Assistant
We're looking for a motivated and reliable Engineering Trades Assistant to join a busy engineering team in Hamilton Lake, Hamilton.
This is a hands-on role offering a mix of workshop and site-based work across fabrication and maintenance projects. If you enjoy working with tools, learning from experienced tradespeople, and being part of a supportive team, we want to hear from you.

Pay rate: $25–$28 per hour
About the Role As an Engineering Trades Assistant, you'll support skilled engineers, fitters, and fabricators with a variety of workshop and site tasks. This role offers plenty of variety, with day shift work and occasional night shift work assisting with on-site installations.

About the Role As an Engineering Trades Assistant, you'll support skilled engineers, fitters, and fabricators with a variety of workshop and site tasks. This role offers plenty of variety, with day shift work and occasional night shift work assisting with on-site installations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist engineers, fitters, welders, and tradespeople with daily tasks
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Prepare materials, tools, and equipment for engineering projects
- Load, unload, and move materials around the workshop and site
- Assist with fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and repair work
- Operate workshop equipment under supervision
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment
- Follow job instructions, drawings, and specifications
- Conduct basic quality checks and report issues as required
- Carry out general labouring duties to support the team
- Previous engineering, manufacturing, or workshop experience
- Confidence using hand and power tools
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Reliable transport and strong attendance record
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- Full Class 1 Driver's Licence
- Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification
- Weekly pay
