Engineering Trades Assistant

We're looking for a motivated and reliable Engineering Trades Assistant to join a busy engineering team in Hamilton Lake, Hamilton.
This is a hands-on role offering a mix of workshop and site-based work across fabrication and maintenance projects. If you enjoy working with tools, learning from experienced tradespeople, and being part of a supportive team, we want to hear from you.
Location: Hamilton Lake, Hamilton
Start date: Immediate start
Pay rate: $25–$28 per hour

About the Role As an Engineering Trades Assistant, you'll support skilled engineers, fitters, and fabricators with a variety of workshop and site tasks. This role offers plenty of variety, with day shift work and occasional night shift work assisting with on-site installations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist engineers, fitters, welders, and tradespeople with daily tasks
• Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
• Prepare materials, tools, and equipment for engineering projects
• Load, unload, and move materials around the workshop and site
• Assist with fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and repair work
• Operate workshop equipment under supervision
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment
• Follow job instructions, drawings, and specifications
• Conduct basic quality checks and report issues as required
• Carry out general labouring duties to support the team

What We're Looking For Essential Requirements

• Previous engineering, manufacturing, or workshop experience
• Confidence using hand and power tools
• Good mechanical aptitude
• Reliable transport and strong attendance record
• Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
• Full Class 1 Driver's Licence 
• Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification
