Digger Operator

Digger Operator Tradestaff is seeking an experienced Digger Operator to join a civil construction project in Lower Hutt. If you're confident operating GPS-equipped excavators, working around underground services, and take pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work, we want to hear from you.

Location: Lower Hutt
Start date: To be advised
Pay rate: $35–$40 per hour, depending on skills and experience (weekly pay)

About the Role You'll be operating excavators using GPS machine control to achieve accurate levels while working safely around underground services. This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected civil contractor on an ongoing project.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate excavators safely and efficiently.
• Cut to level using GPS machine control systems.
• Work confidently around live underground services.
• Read and interpret site plans and specifications.
• Carry out daily pre-start checks and basic equipment maintenance.
• Work closely with the site team to meet project deadlines.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum Class 2 Driver Licence.
• Current WTR (Wheels, Tracks & Rollers) endorsements.
• Proven experience operating excavators using GPS machine control.
• Experience working around underground utilities and services.
• Strong understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work well within a team.
