About the Role

As a Development Charge-Up Operator, you will play a critical role in the safe and efficient charging and blasting of underground development headings.
Working closely with Jumbo Operators, Supervisors and Technical Services personnel, you will ensure blasting activities are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with operational and regulatory requirements.
Your work will directly contribute to the development and success of a new underground gold mining operation preparing for first production.

Key Responsibilities

• Charge and blast underground development headings in accordance with approved blast designs

• Safely handle, transport and load explosives and detonators

• Operate charge-up units and associated underground mining equipment

• Read and interpret drill patterns, blast plans and development drawings

• Complete pre-start inspections and equipment safety checks

• Ensure compliance with explosives management procedures and legislative requirements

• Monitor blast performance and identify opportunities for improvement

• Maintain accurate explosives inventory and blast records

• Work collaboratively with operational and technical teams

• Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture

About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Previous experience in underground charge-up operations

• Current Shotfirer qualification

• Underground mining certifications and competencies

• Dangerous Goods handling experience

• Current First Aid Certificate

• Experience operating underground charge-up units and associated equipment

• Strong understanding of explosives management and underground mining safety requirements

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

• Commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards

Desirable

• Experience with electronic initiation systems

• Knowledge of blast optimisation practices

• Experience within underground gold or metalliferous mining operations
