About the Role
As an Auto Electrician, you'll play a key role in maintaining the electrical reliability of the underground mobile fleet, ensuring equipment remains safe, available and operating at peak performance.
You'll diagnose faults, carry out preventative maintenance and repairs, and work closely with the maintenance and operations teams to minimise downtime and maximise production.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair electrical faults on underground mobile mining equipment
Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing
Install, repair and maintain electrical wiring, sensors, lighting and control systems
Troubleshoot CAN Bus and electronic control systems
Complete breakdown repairs safely and efficiently underground
Conduct pre-start inspections and equipment testing
Assist with planned shutdowns and ongoing fleet maintenance
Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
Work closely with maintenance planners and production teams
Ensure all work complies with site safety procedures and maintenance standards
Promote a positive safety culture across the operation
About You To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
Trade qualification as an Auto Electrician
Experience maintaining heavy mobile plant, mining equipment, earthmoving equipment or heavy diesel machinery
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across electrical and electronic systems
Experience with CAT, Sandvik, Epiroc, Normet, Komatsu or similar equipment is highly regarded
Current Driver Licence
Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental performance
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A proactive attitude and commitment to high-quality workmanship
Desirable
Previous experience as an Auto Electrician within an underground hard rock mining environment
Experience within underground gold or metalliferous mining operations
Current First Aid Certificate
High Voltage switching or underground mining certifications
Air conditioning certification
Experience with fleet management and diagnostic software
