Sitewise (1)

Tradestaff has once again achieved SiteWise Gold status, this time with a 100% assessment score.

While we have previously held SiteWise Gold accreditation, achieving a perfect 100% score reflects the continued focus our teams put into health and safety across every part of the business.

From worker training and branch audits through to risk management, site communication and incident processes, this result shows that health and safety remains a core part of how we operate throughout New Zealand.

For our clients, it provides confidence that the workers entering your sites come from a recruitment partner with independently assessed systems and strong safety standards.

For our candidates, it reinforces something we have always believed: everyone deserves to return home safely at the end of the day.

A massive thank you goes to Amanda, Claire and all of our Branch H&S Representatives across the country. The work happening behind the scenes through H&S meetings, branch audits, training sessions and day-to-day site support has made a genuine difference.

What Is SiteWise Gold 100%?

SiteWise is a New Zealand contractor prequalification system run by Site Safe. It independently assesses a company’s health and safety capability across a wide range of operational areas.

A Gold grading means a company has achieved a score of 90% or above.

A 100% score is the highest possible result and demonstrates exceptional performance across all assessed areas, including:

  • Risk management

  • Worker training and competency

  • Incident reporting and investigations

  • Contractor management

  • Worker engagement

  • Continuous improvement systems

  • Health and safety documentation and compliance

Importantly, SiteWise assessments are evidence-based. Businesses must demonstrate that their systems are active, consistent and properly managed across the organisation.

Why Does SiteWise Gold Matter to Clients?

Health and safety expectations across New Zealand worksites have changed significantly over recent years.

Whether it is commercial construction in Auckland, infrastructure work in Canterbury, warehousing projects in Waikato or industrial maintenance in Wellington, clients are under increasing pressure to ensure everyone on site is operating safely and meeting compliance obligations.

That includes labour hire partners.

Reduced Risk for Contractors and Site Managers

When clients engage Tradestaff, they are working with a company that has independently verified health and safety systems already in place.

That matters because labour hire is no longer simply about filling gaps on site.

Clients need confidence that workers arriving on site:

  • Understand health and safety expectations

  • Have completed inductions

  • Know how to identify and report hazards

  • Can operate within structured site systems

  • Understand PPE and compliance requirements

Strong systems reduce risk for everyone involved.

Recruiter Insight:

“In the last 12 months we have seen increased focus from commercial contractors around documentation, worker engagement and site communication. Clients want to know their recruitment partners are taking health and safety seriously long before workers arrive on site.”

Better Site Communication and Support

One of the most common frustrations site supervisors raise is poor communication around incidents, near misses or worker concerns.

Our branch teams stay actively involved throughout placements, not just during the hiring process.

That ongoing communication helps:

  • Resolve issues earlier

  • Improve worker accountability

  • Maintain site standards

  • Support safer project delivery

On busy sites where multiple subcontractors are operating at once, that level of coordination matters.

Why Does This Matter to Workers?

Good tradies notice very quickly whether a site takes health and safety seriously.

Workers spend enough time on sites to know the difference between:

  • A business with proper systems

    and

  • A business simply ticking boxes

At Tradestaff, we know health and safety is not just paperwork. It affects real people every day.

What Does a Strong Safety Culture Actually Look Like?

On well-managed sites:

  • Inductions are clear and organised

  • PPE expectations are consistent

  • Hazards are communicated properly

  • Supervisors are approachable

  • Workers feel comfortable raising concerns

On poorly managed sites:

  • Communication breaks down

  • Unsafe shortcuts become normal

  • Workers stop reporting issues

  • Small problems become serious incidents

That is why we continue investing heavily into health and safety processes, training and ongoing improvement across our branches.

A Real Situation We See Across NZ Worksites

Sometimes workers move to a new project chasing a slightly higher hourly rate, only to realise the site itself is poorly managed.

We regularly hear frustrations like:

  • Site inductions being rushed

  • Unsafe work practices becoming accepted

  • Lack of communication between supervisors and subcontractors

  • Poor PPE standards

  • Hazards not being addressed early enough

Those situations create stress for workers and risk for everyone on site.

We would rather place workers on projects where standards are clear, communication is strong and workers are properly supported.

That leads to:

  • Better retention

  • Fewer incidents

  • More productive sites

  • Stronger long-term outcomes for both workers and clients

Why Continuous Improvement Matters in Health and Safety

One of the biggest misconceptions around health and safety certifications is that they are a one-time achievement.

In reality, maintaining strong standards year after year takes consistent effort.

This updated SiteWise Gold 100% result reflects ongoing work happening across Tradestaff every day, including:

  • Branch H&S meetings

  • Internal audits

  • Worker engagement

  • Site reviews

  • Training and upskilling

  • Incident management processes

  • Continuous system improvements

Health and safety expectations across New Zealand continue to evolve, especially on larger commercial and infrastructure projects.

Maintaining high standards requires businesses to keep improving alongside those expectations.

Recognition for the Teams Behind the Result

This achievement reflects a full team effort across the business.

Special recognition goes to Amanda and Claire in our Health & Safety team, along with all of our Branch H&S Representatives around New Zealand.

The work they have put into:

  • Supporting branch audits

  • Delivering training

  • Running H&S meetings

  • Strengthening reporting processes

  • Keeping safety visible across the business

has played a major role in achieving this result.

Much of that work happens quietly behind the scenes, but it directly impacts workers, clients and site outcomes every single day.

Why Safety Standards Matter More Than Ever in NZ

Across New Zealand, many worksites are operating under pressure from:

  • Tight construction deadlines

  • Labour shortages

  • Large subcontractor coordination

  • Increased compliance expectations

  • More complex commercial projects

Under pressure, poor systems become exposed quickly.

That is why strong health and safety processes matter so much, particularly in labour hire where workers move across different projects and environments.

For clients, it provides confidence.

For workers, it provides reassurance.

For us, it remains a responsibility we take seriously.
